About Me

Sharilyn Amy is a seasoned social entrepreneur, organizational strategist, and trauma-informed empowerment coach with more than 25 years of experience helping leaders and teams navigate change.

My work combines the discipline of business thinking with the creativity of participatory leadership, helping teams cut through stuck points, build resilience, and design strategies that actually stick.

Over the years I’ve reinvented myself many times: from communications to business optimization, from humanitarian disaster response with the Red Cross to social enterprise consulting, from advising nonprofits to developing and running an award-winning eco-hotel in Patagonia. Each chapter has strengthened the muscle of reinvention — the ability to navigate complexity with clarity, and to help others do the same.

As both an entrepreneur and consultant, I understand the day-to-day realities of growth, optimization, and transition. I’ve advised small and medium-sized businesses, nonprofit leaders, and cross-sector collaboratives — always with a focus on building resilient systems where people feel empowered to contribute, innovate, and thrive. My clients are never just “clients.” They are partners in change. Together we design the work, and together we succeed.

When I’m not working alongside partners, I’m often outdoors or immersed in deep conversation: a parent of adult children, a reader and listener, an explorer, a collaborator in fun, an adventurer, a singer, a world citizen. These experiences keep me grounded in what matters most — connection, creativity, and courage. My education includes: Masters in Business Administration, Diploma in Public Relations, Empowerment Coaching Certification, Certified Human Centered Design Practitioner - Luma Institute (in progress), Art of Hosting - Complex Stakeholder Engagement, Community Engagement - Tamarack Institute - Berkana, Crisis Communications Response Training - Canadian Public Relations Society, and Spanish as a second language. I'm grateful for the recognition my work has received: Outstanding Alumni Award - Professional Achievement, Mount Royal University; Humanitarian Award - Women of Inspiration; Innovation Award - Chubut Province, Argentina; Founders' Award - Royal Roads University.
